About us
Since 2017, YOENT brings together young people and women around a shared ambition: protecting the environment, embracing new technologies and taking a full part in the development of the DRC.
Our story
On 14 November 2017, in Kinshasa, a group of young people founded YOENT – Youth Organisation for Environment and New Technology, a non-profit association governed by Congolese Law No. 004/2001 of 20 July 2001.
The observation: despite enormous potential, both above and below ground and in its human resources, the DRC is among the poorest countries in the world, and its young people are too often left to fend for themselves, for lack of proper support.
The conviction: young people are one of the driving forces of harmonious and sustainable development. By mobilising their energy, creativity and adaptability to modern technologies, and by defending the rights of young people and women, the country can change course.
Health, education, communication, environment, women’s rights and human rights: we are convinced that by combining our efforts we will build sustainable development.
Our vision
To build an effective Congolese society in which motivated young leaders, bringing expertise and innovative ideas, contribute to the well-being of communities by fighting negative values and social injustice.

Our values
We embrace our identity and base our work on social and professional values, respecting human dignity and the environment.
We guarantee transparent management to our partners and beneficiaries.
We work together around a shared vision, with participatory methods and complementary skills.
We pool our strengths, means and resources to go further, together.
Our organisation
To ensure transparent and effective action, YOENT relies on governing bodies defined by its statutes.
01
The association’s supreme body brings together full and supporting members, sets the main direction and meets in ordinary session once a year.
02
The executive body, elected for five years, handles day-to-day management and reports to the General Assembly.
03
Appointed by the General Assembly at the end of each financial year, the auditors review and consolidate the association’s accounts, kept according to the OHADA accounting system.
04
Six committees of experts prepare studies, recommendations and development projects.
Where we work
Our head office is in Kinshasa, in the Ngaliema district. Our work covers the entire Democratic Republic of the Congo and, as far as possible, the wider sub-Saharan Africa region.
